Which is worst? Being on a wheelchair or being blind?

I had a teacher in the blind school that loves comparing the blind and those on a wheelchair. She always says those which are blind/visually impaired had it so much easier than those paralyzed on wheelchair. I hate it when she does this type of comparison especially when she suffers from NEITHER condition..she's definitely no in position to judge. In fact, I've read somewhere that if you are paralyzed (on wheelchair) you are only considered as 25% handicapped while for those that are blind, they are considered 50% handicapped. Blind people can't enjoy all the visual beauty in the world while those on wheelchair can. Blind people lost their ability to drive while the ones on wheelchair can. Of course I know, there's pros and cons..as in most blind people are healthy beings. Wheelchair people has special private parking place and private toilet...while the blind has to touch their way to the toilet..Sometimes I wonder if someone who fetches a blind person can park in the handicapped area but apparently we can't. Can blind people use washroom that are for those on wheelchair?? Another difficult thing for the blind is transportation especially in Malaysia. Not everywhere has the type of braille pavement for the blind to walk on, and in fact, those available (in breakfields) were blocked by hawker stalls setting up their tables and chairs on a pavement made for blind to walk!!! In conclusion, I think nobody deserve to judge which is more difficult/unlucky...and only those that are really in the shoes will understand.

Hmm, no one can and no one should judge who is better off, especially if the person is not oneself. It's very typical Malaysian though - "Oh, we are better off compared to whatever you think is worse and then you'll feel better." Malaysia still has a lot to work on in providing for people with special needs and in educating people who work with them. Ever thought of getting involved in work to get public places and government to provide more for blind?
